Now in our third decade, Denali Stud is consistently among the leading consignors of yearlings, weanlings and broodmares at public auctions in Kentucky and New York.
Equally as important as the commercial success, is the racetrack performance of our graduates. More than 400 stakes horses have emerged from Denali consignments, including numerous racing stars who have gone on to lucrative stud careers.
Thus far, 2015 has been the year of the fillies for Denali on the racetrack. Most recently, HER EMMYNENCY scored a stirring victory in the Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup (G1) at Keeneland in October. The Denail sales grad, who has earned $540,250 to date, was a $115,000 purchase by owners Ike and Dawn Thrash at the 2013 Keeneland September Yearling sale.
CURALINA, another 3-year-old filly, became a Grade 1 winner in her first stakes start in June when she took Belmont Park’s Acorn S. Also a Denali sales grad, she was purchased for $125,000 at the same sale as Her Emmynency and has earned over $800,000 to date.
Five-year-old YAHILWA rounds out the trio of Denali graded stakes-winning distaffers. A 2011 Keeneland September grad, the daughter of Medaglia d’Oro took the Sixty Sails H. (G3) in April and placed in three other graded races, earning $519,495 to date.
In 2014, Denali yearling consignments produced six Graded stakes winners in four countries, led by V. E. DAY, victor of racing's mid-Summer Derby, the $1,250,000 Travers S. (G1) and DANON LEGEND, a millionaire in Japan and stakes winner again in 2015. In 2013, Champion ANIMAL KINGDOM--foaled, raised and sold by Denali--won the world’s richest race, the $10-million Dubai World Cup (G1). Also winner of the 2011 Kentucky Derby (G1), ANIMAL KINGDOM was syndicated for stallion duty by owner Team Valor. He stood his first season at Arrowfield Stud in Australia, and has returned to Kentucky to stand at Sheikh Mohammed's Darley Stud.
Another top Denali graduate, Champion UNCLE MO, capped his undefeated two-year-old season with a win in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1). He now stands at Ashford Stud where his first two-year-olds are highly anticipated.
