Denali-Raised Sales Grad MELATONIN named 'Horse of Meet' at Santa Anita

Denali Stud's most recent Grade 1 winner, MELATONIN, was recently named Santa Anita's 'Horse of the Meet'. His first Grade 1 win came March 12 in the Grade 1 Santa Anita H. He followed that effort with a runner up finish in the G2 Oaklawn H. at Oaklawn Park. Returning to Santa Anita toward the end of the meet, the son of Kodiak Kowboy notched his second Grade 1 win in the Gold Cup S. by 1 1/2 lengths, defeating notable runners such as Hoppertunity, Bal a Bali (BRZ) and Hard Aces, who won this race last year.

Foaled and raised at Denali Stud, the now 5 year old gelding is trained by David Hofmans for owner Susan Osborne's Tarabilla Farms. Offered as a yearling in the Keeneland September sale in 2012, the dark bay was hammered down at a bargain $20,000. His ultimate goal, according to connections, will be the Breeders Cup Classic at Santa Anita this November. We can't wait to cheer him on.

Be sure to stop by our summer yearling consignments and find YOUR Saturday afternoon horse!
