$950K Into Mischief Filly Highlights Saratoga Select Sale for Denali Stud

Denali Stud sold seven yearlings at the prestigious Saratoga Select Yearling Sale for a gross total of $3,305,000 and an average of $472,143. Denali was the sixth leading consignor by gross and leading consignor by average for the 2018 sale.

Denali Stud, Agent consigned Hip 82, a filly by Into Mischief out of Reve d’Amour, by Warrior’s Reward who sold for $950,000 to Larry Best and OXO Equine. She was the top-priced filly, and third highest sold overall Monday evening.

Into Mischief, among last year’s leading juvenile sires, is off to a great start with this year’s Grade 3 winner Sombeyay and impressive maiden winner Instagrand, who blew away the field in his first start by 10 lengths this year. He is also the producer of Goldencents, Practical Joke and Audible. Into Mischief had six yearlings sell that went through the ring for an average of $501,667.

Hip 82 is a ½ sister to Graded Stakes winner and exciting young stallion prospect, Can The Man. This filly is her dam’s second foal, from the outstanding female family of blue hen Blush With Pride who produced Broodmare of the Year Better Than Honour.

Hip 222, representing Winstar Farm out of the Not For Love mare For Royalty, is a filly by Tapit, who sold for $750K to Solis/Litt Bloodstock.

Tapit is one of the most influential and breed-shaping sires, with multiple yearlings bringing more than $1 million at auction and earners of more than $122 million on the track. He most recently sired 2017 Grade 1 Belmont Stakes winner and Denali Sales Grad TAPWRIT, as well as Grade 1 Santa Anita Gold Cup winner Cupid and Grade 1 Del Mar Oaks winner Dream Dancing.

Daughters of Not For Love have produced many successful runners on the track including two-time Horse of the Year California Chrome, as well as this filly's half- sister, Grade 1 winner and Denali Sales Grad CONSTELLATION, whose signature win came in the G1 La Brea Stakes at Santa Anita. For Royalty is a 100% stakes producer, including stakes-placed Upper Room, Queen Mum and Back Flip. She was sold by Denali Stud in the 2017 Keeneland November Sale to Summer Wind for $2.1 million.

Hip 154, a chestnut colt by More Than Ready out of the Unbridled's Song mare Allez Marie, sold for $500,000 to Kerri Radcliffe Bloodstock.

More Than Ready is the global sire of more than 185 black type winners and 9 Champions across the world, including important sire and G1 winner Sebring, and exciting young sire Verrazano, along with Champion Sprinter of 2017 Roy H.

This is only the second foal out of Allez Marie, a mare who is G3-placed in her native Brazil, and is by popular broodmare sire Unbridled's Song. She comes from the family of G1 Kentucky Oaks heroine Summerly.

Kerri Radcliffe had the following comment after the purchase of her new colt, “He's a gorgeous colt. Everyone knows I love More Than Ready and he’s a lovely, strong colt who looked like he had a great mind and the one thing I love - a great, big walk.”-

Hip 123 was consigned for Bayne and Christina Welker, a colt by Bodemeister out of the Victory Gallop mare Swingit, who sold for $310,000 to Whitehorse Stables.

Bodemeister continues to be a stallion in demand, siring 2017 Kentucky Derby winner Always Dreaming, along with exciting 2018 sprinter American Anthem.

Swingit is a great producer with her four foals of racing age all being winners, including the always consistent Neolithic who placed in both the G1 Pegasus World Cup and G1 Dubai World Cup. Neolithic was purchased in 2014 at the Keeneland September Sale for $460,000 by Starlight from the Denali Stud consignment. His earnings total $2,278,028 from twelve starts.
