Hip 495, a filly from the first crop of Outwork, sold for $500,000 during the second session of the New York Bred Yearlings sale. The bay filly was purchased by All About the Girls Racing, JCE Racing, and Travis Durr from the consignment of Denali Stud, agent. The price is a record for a filly sold at this sale, eclipsing the previous record setting last year when a daughter of American Pharoah sold for $450,000.

Outwork, winner of the Wood Memorial S. (G1) at three, is from the talented first crop of Eclipse Champion and Leading Freshman Sire Uncle Mo. Hip 495 is the third foal out of the unraced Tiznow mare Light and Variable, making her a half-sister to English stakes winner Bye Bye Hong Kong and impressive two-year-old winner Our Country, who broke his maiden by 5 ¾ lengths at Saratoga on August 3.

Light and Variable is a half-sister to Grade 2 winner Nonna Mela and graded stakes placed Nonna Madeline, all out of a full sister to Grade 1 winner, millionaire, and successful sire Bluegrass Cat. The immediate family also includes champion Rhythm, Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Super Saver, and other Grade 1 winners GirolamoImagining, and Got Lucky.

Hip 495 was bred in New York by WinStar Farm LLC. (Excerpt: Fasig-Tipton)

We would like to take some time to thank our wonderful yearling staff for all of their hard work and dedication before and during the Saratoga Sale and the New York Bred Sale this year. From the staff out in the barns that exercise our horses daily rain or shine, keep a regimented feed routine, meticulous grooming, late night turn-outs, clean up, early mornings, long hours and weekends to prep these yearlings for their night on the stage..... thank you. To our daily workers, and our showmen and women and our team of vets and specialists.... thank you. To our managers and sales office staff that spend weeks getting everything ready and organized behind the scenes.... thank you.

They all work tirelessly months in advance of every sale and in the weeks before getting everything just right and it doesn’t stop there. These yearlings still have to be shipped out and cared for with attention to detail on the sale grounds as well. When it’s finally their moment to shine in the ring, everyone sees the beautiful yearling but we also see YOU in the background watching the filly or colt you helped raise set a sale record. It really takes a village to sales prep our yearlings, and we’re very lucky and humbled to have such an amazing team as the foundation of Denali’s success.

Denali landed 2nd on the leading consignor list for the Saratoga Sale:

$1.5M colt by Curlin out of Wapi (CHI)
$1M colt by Curlin out of Yes Liz

Denali landed 1st on the leading consignor list for the NY Bred Sale:

$500K filly by Outwork out of Light and Variable

Thank you to our clients for your continued confidence in us. We are humbled that you choose us again and again each passing year. We are lucky to represent you and your horses. Congratulations to all the buyers on the purchase of their next #saturdayafternoonhorse
