Saratoga Select Consignment Sire Power for 2015
Tuesday, July 21, 2015

This year our Saratoga Select consignment is well represented by top sires in North America and around the world. Yearlings by five Kentucky sires including leading sire Tapit, as well as War Front, Malibu Moon, Speightstown, and Harlan’s Holiday, will be offered by Denali at Fasig Tipton Saratoga.

Hip #34 is a colt by leading sire Tapit out of the G1 winning mare Appealing Zophie. This is the first foal offered at private auction out of Appealing Zophie, and by leading sire Tapit, he won’t be one you’ll want to miss!

Hip #104 and #205 are by leading sire War Front, and are the only two War Front yearlings being offered in the Saratoga Select catalog this year. Hip #104 is a well bred filly out of the G3 winning mare Hostess (Chester House), who earned just under $400k on the racetrack. Hip #205 is a full brother to SW and G2 placed Doctor Chit, out of the mare True Gritz (Yes It’s True).

Recently, Bill Oppenheim published a column in the TDN highlighting War Front as the #1 APEX sire by A Runner Index. Midyear APEX ratings show that War Front (APEX rating of 3.98) has just surpassed leading sire Galileo (IRE) (3.93 APEX).  War Front ranks 31st on the General Sire List for 2015, which is another reason why Oppenheim stresses the APEX numbers are significant and important to consider.
