Vindication - Mulrainy

Prince Charming

Prince Charming

This colt is a handsome, very athletic 2-year-old by Vindication out of the mare Mulrainy by Star de Naskra. He has excellent conformation and an A+ (top 12 of 1%) biomechanical rating, which has produced an exceptionally high percentage of stakes winners. He was Jimmy Jerkens' first choice of the horses he saw in the first book of the Keeneland September sale (The first book featured the horses with the best pedigrees in the sale.)

Vindication was a Champion 2-Year-Old Colt. He was undefeated in four starts. He won the Kentucky Cup Juvenile Stakes (Grade 3) and the $1 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile (Grade 1). He was the winter book favorite for the Kentucky Derby at odds of 3-1, but retired to stud because of an injury.

Vindication is by Seattle Slew, stakes winner of 14 races and $1,208,726. He was Horse of the Year at 3, Champion 2 and 3-Year-Old Colt and Champion Handicap Horse. He won the Kentucky Derby (Grade 1), Preakness Stakes (Grade 1), Belmont Stakes (Grade 1), Marlboro Cup Handicap (Grade 1), Woodward Stakes (Grade 1), Flamingo Stakes (Grade 1), Champagne Stakes (Grade 1), etc. He was a leading sire of 111 Stakes Winners and 8 Champions.

Mulrainy was an excellent racehorse who won $516,093. She was a multiple Stakes Winner who won the Grade 3 Duchess Stakes, the La Lorgnette Stakes and placed in numerous other stakes including the Grade 1 Selene Stakes and Grade 1 Mazarine Breeders' Cup Stakes.

Vindication's stud fee was $60,000. His first crop of horses are only two years old this year, but he has already proven that he can sire outstanding horses. His daughter, More Happy, broke her maiden early in the Del Mar meeting and then went to Saratoga, where she won the Grade 2 Adirondack Stakes going gate-to-wire in her second start. (More Happy was purchased for $1 million earlier this year at the Fasig-Tipton Calder sale). One week before the Adirondack, Maimonides (a $4.6 million yearling by Vindication) won a maiden special weight at Saratoga by 11 12 lengths in his debut. Maimonides is now stakes-placed along with Galiano. Sargent Seattle was another impressive Saratoga debut winner by Vindication.

This colt was foaled in Kentucky and is eligible for the Breeders' Cup. We feel that with his exceptional pedigree and conformation, he has the potential to become an excellent racehorse and stallion prospect. Since Vindication and Seattle Slew were both undefeated at two, and since his dam was also a winner at two, this colt has a precocious pedigree and has a better-than-average chance to race as a 2-year-old.

Prince Charming made four starts in New York at two in 2008. After winning at Belmont in maiden special weight company he advanced to stakes competition finishing sixth in the Nashua Stakes (Grade 3).
