GALLAGHER’S STUD BRED/DENALI SOLD, STEPHEN’S REVENGE WINS OPENING DAY AT SARATOGA

In the second race at the Spa, a 1 1/16m maiden special weight on turf, STEPHEN’S REVENGE, a half-brother to Denali sale graduate ICABAD CRANE ($497,895) and OUR GOLDEN DREAM, saved ground on the first turn, settled a bit off the hedge on the backstretch, shifted three to four wide and was roused midway through the far turn, rallied outside in upper stretch, made a bid passing the furlong marker, gained the lead and was clear by a length under a hand ride at the wire. The Sackatoga Stable owned three-year-old was sold by Denali at the 2009 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga NY-bred sale on behalf of his breeder Gallagher’s Stud for $60,0000. Denali offers a half-sister by BERNSTEIN at Fasig-Tipton’s NY Bred Preferred Yearlings Sale on Aug. 13.
