BERKSHIRE STUD BRED & DENALI SOLD, BRIGAND SECOND IN G3

A $90,000 yearling sale by Denali for breeder Berkshire Stud at the 2010 Fasig-Tipton NY Bred Preferred Sale, BRIGAND is off to a solid start in racing. At the OBS March 2YO sale, pinhooker Barry Eisaman scored a homerun with his $90,000 purchase, reselling the juvenile for $925,000 to trainer Bob Baffert for owner Kaleem Shah.

BRIGAND won a maiden special weight on July 3 at Hollywood Park. The 5 1/2f event had BRIGAND dueling four wide between foes, then three deep into the turn, before overtaking the lead in the stretch for his maiden victory. Stepping up in class on July 17 in the Hollywood Juvenile Championship S.-G3, BRIGAND stalked the pace, keeping on the rail, passing the pacesetter stretch, but had to settle for second to Majestic City, also winner of the Willard L. Proctor Memorial S.
