BRIDLEWOOD BRED TROPIC STORM RACING FOR WESTPOINT
A Denali sales yearling TROPIC STORM resold at two for $145,000. After placing in four consecutive graded stakes at four, TROPICAL STORM’s tenacious spirit brought him back to racing in 2010. His first start of the year was just back in August at Del Mar where he was edged at the wire over 5fT, but was awarded the win through disqualification. Returning the next month in the one mile Windy Sands H. TROPIC STORM held his speed on the inside to win by 2 ¼ lengths. His final prep race for the Breeders’ Cup was the Grade II Oak Tree Mile at Hollywood where he got in a duel but was forced to settle for third beaten only 2 ¼ lengths. The firm turf at Churchill should be well suited for him on Saturday as odds maker Mike Battaglia set him at 15-1 in the morning line. Owned by West Point Thoroughbreds, a win by TROPIC STORM would be a big thrill to their many investors but not a thrill this well studied group has not already experienced with seven previous Breeders’ Cup wins to their record.
