DENALI GRADS HONORED AS TOP NY-BREDS
Turtle Bird Stable’s Haynesfield, winner of the Jockey Club Gold Cup (gr. I) in 2010, has been honored as New York-bred Horse of the Year for the second year in a row.
Bred by longtime clients Barry Weisbord and Margaret Santulli, Haynesfield won half of his six starts last year while earning $749,300. In addition to his grade I win, the son of Speightstown won the Suburban Handicap (gr. II) and finished second in the Hill ‘n’ Dale Cigar Mile Handicap (gr. I). Trained by Steve Asmussen, Haynesfield has won nine of 15 career starts and earned $1,166,981 through 2010. He was also honored as champion older male.
Haynesfield was sold by Denali Stud at the Keeneland 2007 September Yearling Sale.
Denali client Vivien Malloy, owner of Edition Farm, bred Japanese grade I winner A Shin Forward and was voted the 2010 New York Breeder of the Year.
