KATHMANBLU CONTINUES CLIMB TO KY OAKS

Denali raised and sale graduate, KATHMANBLU solidified her position among the nation’s top three-year-old fillies with a workmanlike 1 ¼-length win the Grade III Rachel Alexandra S. at the Fair Grounds.

Racing fourth KATHMANBLU and jockey Julien Laparoux collared the leaders at the top of the stretch. “I thought I had everyone all the way around, commented Laparoux. “She’s just as good on either” surface, he added, referring to her two prior stakes wins on the lawn.

“She’s smart and has wrapped her mind around racing” stated trainer Kenny McPeek, adding
“She understands when to change gears, and she’s got gears to change.”

Racing for breeder Five-D Thoroughbreds with new partner Wind River Stables KATHMANBLU will return to McPeek’s Florida base and may not come back until the Gulfstream Park Oaks, with the Kentucky Oaks her ultimate goal, she mostly like will have only one more start prior to the May 6th classic.
