Raised and Grazed at Denali Brings Stakes Success

Sunday, November 28, 2021

Selling a Saturday Afternoon Horse is always a thrill but there is something extra special when that horse was raised on grounds, and that’s exactly the kind of incredible weekend Denali Stud had yesterday. Well represented in New York, racers with Denali roots took home honors on Aqueduct’s Super Saturday card packed with stakes races.

Candy Flower ( 17′ Zucchini Flower x Twirling Candy)

This lovely filly was foaled on the farm, and raised on our slice of Bluegrass heaven. Out of a multiple stakes-winning and placed mare, Candy Flower almost stole the show on the front end in the Gr. III Long Island S., a turf marathon at a mile and a half. Her only other graded stakes appearance was in the Gr. III Robert G. Dick Memorial at Delaware Park, which ended on a nineth place finish. She took a big step forward in the Zagora S. against a familiar rival in Orglandes (FR) to finish third, and it spring boarded her into a big effort in the Long Island. She’s had a busy year in 2021 with eleven starts, and nine on-the-board finishes, four of those victories.

Arrest Me Red (18′ Maraschino Red x Pioneerof the Nile)

It’s never a bad day when Mr. and Mrs. Jackson stand in the winner’s circle, and Barbaro’s colors flew proudly again on Saturday when 3YO Arrest Me Red fought off all comers to win the Aqueduct Turf Sprint Championship S. Coming off a victory in the Gr. III Belmont Turf Sprint Invitational S. and after being scratched from a start earlier in the month at the Breeders’ Cup, the colt went wire to wire to cap an undefeated 2021. Already a stakes winner as a 2YO, Arrest Me Red now boasts five victories from seven lifetime starts, with four of them coming from the NYRA circuit.

Congratulations to all the happy connections and we thank them for trusting us to raise their Saturday Afternoon Horse.
